Jarvis Landry Could Be Used More Downfield
6 years agoCleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry has made a name for himself with the Miami Dolphins as a solid slot receiver who operates close to the line of scrimmage and rarely runs routes downfield. Landry averaged just 8.8 yards per catch in 2017, shockingly failing to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards despite catching 112 passes. According to a report from Browns beat reporter Scott Petrak, Landry's new team plans to use him down the field this season. Cleveland offensive coordinator Todd Haley trusts Landry to do more damage further down the field. A crowded pass-catching corps in Cleveland may cut down on Landry's volume this season, but he could make up for that with higher yardage totals.
