ANALYSIS: Colorado Rockies outfielder Gerardo Parra had a five game hitting streak snapped in a pinch hit performance against the Dodgers on Friday, but still has a .368 batting average this month. Parra has four multi-hit games in his last 10 games and even had home runs on June 23 and 24 (his first two of the month). He has five doubles and 11 runs scored this month, but his 22 RBI are the most impressive statistic other than his batting average.

The first thing to look at with his batting average is his BABIP, which sits at a high .433 and is likely to normalize into the mid-.300s. He also is only walking in 2.4% of plate appearances, showing that Parra is going after too many pitches (34.9% swing rate on balls outside of the zone). Parra is making contact on 91.7% of pitches inside of the zone this month, has a soft hit ball rate of only 8.1%, and has a 27.9% line drive rate in June; all of that begin said, it is unlikely that he maintains a BABIP over .400.

While Parra is unlikely to continue his .368 batting average from this month, Parra is a former .300 hitter (.309 last season)  and is an impact player at the bottom of the Rockies lineup. Betting on the Rockies is a smart proposition and he is a good addition in deeper leagues.
