6 years agoAccording to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, San Diego Padres outfielder Franchy Cordero (elbow) underwent surgery on July 3 to remove a bone spur in his left elbow. The 12-week recovery schedule will end his 2018 season. He should be ready for winter ball and will fight for a starting job next spring training. The 23-year-old Cordero finished with a modest .237/.307/.439 slash but provided a spark for the Padres with seven homers and five steals in 154 plate appearances. Cordero's long-term role with the franchise is uncertain and dependent on how the outfield situation shakes out at the trade deadline and this offseason, but he has the talent to be an everyday player.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
