Eric Hosmer Trapped In Tailspin
6 years agoSan Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer continued his wretched slump Friday, going 0-for-4 against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Hosmer is now hitless in his last four games and is without an extra-base knock since June 20. Hosmer's average has sunk all the way to .261 after peaking at .293 on June 4. The Padres prized free agent could be pressing at the plate, striking out at a career-high pace (22 percent). Hosmer's fantasy value has taken a nosedive over the past month and with nine homers, 37 RBI, 38 runs and a .747 OPS, he's become a replacement-level first baseman. Hosmer has been streaky all season but he's not a must-hold in shallower leagues. On the flip side, optimistic owners could likely nab him now for a significant discount.
