Robinson Cano Likely To Play First Base Upon Return
6 years agoSeattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano is more likely to play first base than second when he returns from his 80-game suspension. Speaking during a press conference on Saturday, General Manager Jerry Dipoto spoke highly of Dee Gordon and said that he will be the team's second baseman going forward. He said while there will be games when Gordon shifts back to the outfield, it's more likely that Cano plays first base or designated hitter with the former Marlin sticking at second. Cano is ineligible for the playoffs, so Dipoto is keeping Gordon in his natural spot for the rest of the regular season. This should actually be a boost for Cano as he will likely earn positional flexibility in most leagues. The former All-Star is slated to return from his suspension on August 14.
