FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (7/23/18): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

We have a larger than usual Monday slate thanks to the All-Star break, so there are plenty of choices at each position. Pitching is a bit disappointing considering the deep slate, especially after getting out of the top three.

That leaves plenty of stacking options however, with the A's/Rangers looking like a great place to game stack. While it won't feature the same hot weather, hitters on both the Reds and Cardinals will also get plenty of my attention on the slate. Finally, the top of Cleveland's lineup is always a strong option and they should make plenty of hard contact against Trevor Williams.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 7/23/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS lineup picks for DraftKings and other sports too. FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Jacob deGrom - SP, vs. SD ($11,500)

The Sunday Night Baseball rainout was a disappointment, because it bumped Wheeler out of a great start. He was one of the few mid-priced options that was appealing on this slate, but deGrom is now the top option on the slate. Luis Severino is also worth considering as he is much more likely to get the run support needed to earn a win.

Rick Porcello - SP, @ BAL  ($9,000)

There aren't many scenarios I'd play Porcello if I'm being honest, but it's hard to recommend another pitcher on this slate. He'll have the benefit of the recently downgraded Orioles lineup sans Manny Machado so the matchup shouldn't be an issue. In cash games, I'd rather pay up for deGrom or Severino and in tournaments Luis Castillo is at punt level pricing, making him an intriguing option.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Gary Sanchez - C/1B, @ TB ($3,200)

The Rays have tabbed Hunter Wood to be the starter Monday, meaning it’s a bullpen game and it’s not exactly clear who will follow Wood into the game. Regardless, Sanchez is now priced $1,200 below his top price on the year and about $500 cheaper than his average price. That leaves him as a bargain, and as soon as he starts to show signs of life at the plate that will disappear so take advantage.

Niko Goodrum - 2B, @ KC ($2,800)

The Tigers have what should be an exploitable matchup against Heath Fillmyer, a righty with 15.2 innings of career work at the major-league level. His highest strikeout rate at Double-A or above was 6.92/9, so the Tigers should make plenty of contact against him. That leads to the surprise, which is that Niko Goodrum leads the Tigers with a .226 ISO against right-handed pitchers.

Paul DeJong - SS @ CIN ($3,000)

DeJong hasn’t homered since returning from the disabled list on July 6, but has slowly shown signs of life by recording three doubles in his past seven games. He’s also been batting third, a prime position to both score and drive in plenty of runs. Monday, he’ll get a matchup against Luis Castillo, who has allowed 1.57 HR/9 at home this season. All together, that leaves DeJong as an underpriced option at SS.

Matt Carpenter - 3B, @ CIN ($4,200)

Carpenter is the hottest hitter in the league right now, and considering that, is reasonably priced at $4,200. Castillo has been homer prone as already discussed, so there’s no reason to fade Carpenter until he shows he’s done with this incredibly hot stretch.

Also Consider: Eduardo Escobar @ TOR ($3,400)

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Mark Canha - OF @ TEX ($2,500)

Cole Hamels has been the most homer prone pitcher on the slate, allowing 1.73 HR/9. It’ll be another hot night in Texas, so there’s no reason to doubt balls will be flying out of the park once again on Monday. As a result, Canha emerges as a strong play as he has posted a .372 ISO and .670 slugging percentage in 102 plate appearances against LHP this season.

Teoscar Hernandez - OF, vs. MIN ($3.400)

The Blue Jays are quickly emerging as one of the bigger dumpster fires in the American League, but they are worth your attention on Monday thanks to a matchup against southpaw Adalberto Mejia. Unfortunately, there aren’t a ton of options to take advantage of that matchup now that Steve Pearce has been shipped out of town. However, Teoscar Hernandez has managed a 130 wRC+ and .316 ISO against lefties this season. His price tag isn’t ideal, but he’ll play in cash games.

J.D. Martinez - OF, @ BAL ($4,800)

Martinez is a nice play any night, but he’ll go up against a home-prone pitcher in Kevin Gausman while playing in home run friendly Camden Yards. It’ll be a struggle to fit him, Carpenter, and deGrom in a lineup, but removing one makes things much easier.
