7 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitching prospect Kyle Funkhouser (foot) suffered a fracture to the fifth metatarsal on his right foot while turning his ankle on an uneven sidewalk and will require season-ending surgery. The Tigers expect him to make a full recovery and be ready for spring training next year. The team's seventh-ranked prospect had recently been promoted to Triple-A Toledo after going 4-5 with a 3.74 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 9.0 K/9 over 17 starts at Double-A Eerie.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
