6 years agoAccording to MLB Network's Jon Morosi, the Miami Marlins would not accept a deal with the Red Sox in which Boston would've sent one of their top two prospects in Michael Chavis or Jason Groome for relief pitcher Drew Steckenrider. Steckenrider has pitched to a 3.38 ERA and a 51/20 K/BB ratio this season. Steckenrider is also under team control until 2023 through arbitration. It's clear that the Marlins expect a huge trade package for Steckenrider and perhaps another controllable reliever in Kyle Barraclough. This could also be Miami just not interested in Chavis/Groome as prospects. Regardless, if the Marlins are going to trade Steckenrider, it appears it's going to take one or more of a team's better prospects. Whether a club is willing to trade that much for Steckenrider is yet to be seen.--Dan Fappiano
