6 years agoSeattle Mariners reliever Edwin Diaz tore through the Giants lineup on Wednesday night, striking out the side to pick up his 38th save of the season. Diaz had electric stuff on the mound and now has 85 strikeouts in only 51 innings pitched. It was a bounce-back performance for Diaz who took the loss on Tuesday thanks, in no part, to some shoddy defense. He has converted 19 saves in a row and has allowed only two hits in his last nine appearances with 17 strikeouts in that span. Diaz currently is sporting a microscopic 0.38 WHIP in the month of July and has been a huge reason why the Mariners are fighting for a playoff spot this season.--Joey C - RotoBaller
