7 years agoNew York Mets pitcher Corey Oswalt was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday to make room for starting pitcher Jason Vargas to come off the disabled list and start on Friday. Aside from a six-run outing against the Marlins on June 29, Oswalt has been solid in his five other starts for the Mets. He most recently allowed two runs in five innings to the Padres on Wednesday. Oswalt is sporting a 5.27 ERA overall, though, and he has only 6.3 strikeouts per nine innings. With Vargas returning and Noah Syndergaard expected back next week, there is no room for him.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
