7 years agoChicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky wasn't thrilled with his or the offense's performance in the preseason game against the Bengals on Thursday. He completed two of four passes for a passer rating of 56.2 on the team's first two drives. “Our standards are higher that we expect to be better,” Trubisky said. “No excuse for first preseason game. We have a bunch of experienced guys from last year, so there shouldn’t be any jitters. Maybe guys were excited, but it’s very simple — come out here, do your job, do exactly what we were doing in practice. We practiced our butts off this week. We just came out here and were sloppy.” Not all of the starting offense played with Trubisky, though, and head coach Matt Nagy didn't seem at all concerned. Trubisky is holding himself and his offense to a higher standard in his second year, which is a good sign. So far it's been tough on him learning a new offense, which should be expected. He will have his fair share of ups and downs in his second season, but the bottom line is he should be more productive and have a higher fantasy ceiling in a new system with more playmakers around him. He's still more of a QB2 target, though.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
