BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 20% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Nick Ahmed has been solid over the last few weeks, but a rough week has seen his ownership dip a bit this week (down from 26%). The Diamondbacks’ infield is going to get crowded once Jake Lamb returns from the disabled list, as well, after Arizona acquired Eduardo Escobar at the trade deadline.
Ahmed is now slashing .281/.333/.539 since the beginning of July, but he is only slashing .190/.261/.286 over the last week, posting no multi-hit games and hitting two doubles. More surprisingly, he only has a .313 BABIP in the same time period, even though he has a 43.1% hard hit ball rate and 25.7% line drive rate.
A poor run of play will make Ahmed available in more leagues, but also should remind you that he is more of a streamer than a player to hold for the long run. He may only be worth an addition in deeper leagues, but he could make an impact as a middle infielder.
