BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 10% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Kansas City Royals middle infielder Adalaberto Mondesi has been one of the best waiver wire pickups over the last weeks because of his speed and average. The Royals’ shortstop, who just turned 23, has gone hitless in four of his last five starts, but has posted a .268/.287/.411 slash since the beginning of July, with three homers and 13 stolen bases.
His BABIP (.351) since the beginning of July is scary, and he is only hitting .222 in August, but, given how tough it is right now to find players who can contribute steals without killing you in other categories, fantasy owners will take it. Mondesi is 13-for-15 on stolen bases since July 2 and has scored 15 runs in the same time period.
Mondesi does not have the flashiest of extra base hit numbers (nine extra base hits), but he does look like he will not kill you in batting average while helping you in stolen bases. With his average and speed, and eligibility at second base and shortshop, Mondesi is a good depth addition in deeper leagues.
