BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 22% of leagues
ANALYSIS: San Diego Padres starting pitcher Joey Lucchesi was a popular waiver add in April, but a month-long stint on the disabled list led to him being cast aside by many fantasy owners. Since then, it has been a roller coaster ride owning Lucchesi; this week was no different. After allowing five runs in four innings against the Diamondbacks on August 17, he allowed two earned runs in six innings at Coors Field against the Rockies.
Since the beginning of July, the lefty is 2-4 with a 4.35 ERA in 40 2/3, but has pitched into the sixth inning in three of the last four starts and has 45 strikeouts in that time span. His ground ball rate is also up to a respectable 45.1% and he has only walked 2.66 batters per nine, walking one batter in two of his last four starts.
Lucchesi only has one start this week, going against the Mariners in San Diego on Wednesday. While facing the Mariners is not the easiest of starts, every pitcher is upgraded by pitching at Petco. His solid run of play makes him an addition in most leagues, particularly considering that he gets to start at home.
