6 years agoCarolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey rushed 12 times for 48 yards in the preseason game against the New England Patriots on Friday and he added two grabs for 16 yards on his only two targets. OT Jeremiah Sirles (hamstring) joined the walking wounded on Friday, and head coach Ron Rivera might be forced to scan the waiver wire just for healthy bodies to play the fourth preseason game next week. CMC looked good despite the backup linemen playing a larger than expected role, and head coach Ron Rivera said earlier in camp that he'd like to get McCaffrey 25-30 touches per game. The injuries to the offensive line are a concern going into the regular season, however, as McCaffrey could get off to a slow start if his blockers aren't completely whole for Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys.--Daniel Dobish
