6 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd tossed six innings against the Royals on Tuesday, and five of those innings were pretty darn good. The problem for Boyd was the one bad inning, a five-run frame in the third inning. Boyd allowed a single and a walk through the first two innings before the outburst, and after that five-run frame managed to retire 11 of the next 13 batters to finish out six innings. It's a small silver lining for Boyd, who falls to 8-12 on the year with a 4.22 ERA, but it does reiterate what we've seen from him all season: Boyd has potential to be a serviceable starter for fantasy purposes when he puts it all together.--Tyler Germain - RotoBaller
