7 years agoThe New York Yankees are trying to finalize a trade for San Francisco Giants outfielder Andrew McCutchen, according to sources. However, no deal is done yet. Shortstop Abiatal Avelino would be part of the return for the Giants. With Aaron Judge's (wrist) recovery from a wrist fracture taking much longer than expected, Cutch would be a nice insurance policy for the Yankees outfield, even if he hasn't had that great of a season in his first year in San Fran. An acquisition of McCutchen would not only boost his fantasy value, but also allow the Yankees to let Judge serve as the primary designated hitter when he's ready to return. Avelino has hit .287 with 15 home runs, 66 RBI and 25 stolen bases between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2018 and is listed as the team's No. 23 prospect, per MLB.com.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
