ANALYSIS: Greg Allen was an afterthought for most fantasy managers, as he seemed like just another speed option that provided zero power with a mediocre batting average. He is doing his best to change people’s opinion with his second-half performance. During that time (79 at-bats), Allen is batting .304 with 14 runs and eight stolen bases in nine attempts. He also has a very good strikeout rate (12.9%). Allen also tries to overcome his 48.5% groundball rate despite a 36% hard-hit rate.
This week, Allen faces off against the Royals at home followed by a four-game series in Toronto. Both of these matchups should be decent for him to accumulate a few runs and stolen bases, particularly if Salvador Perez continues to be banged up. Allen will go against five right-handed pitchers, against which he is hitting .253 this season. He doesn’t have any excessive home/road splits as he is hitting .240 at Progressive Field and .246 away from home. Although he hits at the end of the lineup, the bottom third of the Indians lineup is better than most other rosters. Allen is a must add if your roster needs speed.
