BALLER MOVE: Target ~115
CURRENT ADP: ~140
ANALYSIS: With the injury to Jerick McKinnon (torn ACL), knocking him out for the season in San Francisco, enter the increased draft value of Alfred Morris. 2017 was a lost season for Morris in Dallas but, 2018 should be a much different story.
If you took him in drafts last week, you got an incredible price as he was going almost undrafted in redraft leagues. While this price is going to skyrocket now that he looks to be the lead back in the Kyle Shanahan offense, it will still not raise to the level of other starting running backs in the league.
Morris should be considered for a roster slot on all of your redraft teams, but especially in standard leagues where his lack of pass-game production will be less of an issue for you. While Matt Breida will still get work, it will be Alfred Morris who gets the bulk of the first and second down touches making him the player to target in this backfield.
At age 29, Morris is a veteran - but with only 1,265 career rushing attempts, he does not have the wear and tear of other backs his age. His 4.4 career yards per carry average, and 32 career touchdowns, shows the 49ers will be able to rely on him through out the season. At 5’10 and 228 lbs., he has the size and build to stay on the field. Morris has the ability to greatly outperform his ADP, making him a solid draft day value.
