7 years agoCleveland Indians third baseman Josh Donaldson (calf) hit a grand slam on Monday with Triple-A Columbus. The Indians are planning to build Donaldson's workload so that he is ready to come off the disabled list on Sept. 11, according to manager Terry Francona. Donaldson played six innings at third base and will return to Cleveland on Tuesday to work out with the team. He is slated to join Double-A Akron on Wednesday to start the Eastern League playoffs. "Now it's just kind of managing the load process, and managing how many games and the schedule of how many games I'm going to play in a row," Donaldson said. "It's not a matter of getting me back on the field. I feel that I'm ready for that." The slugger played in only 36 games for the Blue Jays this year and hit .234 (32-for-137) with 11 doubles, five home runs and 16 RBI. Fantasy owners should keep him stashed, as he could help out tremendously to close out the year.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
