Charles Clay's Week 1 Workload Could Increase
6 years agoThe Buffalo Bills passing attack was already facing an arduous task in Week 1 due to the shortcomings of the team’s revamped offensive line, the limitations of the wide receiving weaponry and the formidable Baltimore defense. Now, inclement weather can be blended into the unwanted mix of obstacles, as rain and sustained wind of at least 20 mph appear imminent. That could relegate quarterback Nathan Peterman’s wide receivers to a diminished role, as Buffalo should supplement extensive usage of running back LeSean McCoy with more frequent targeting of tight end Charles Clay whenever the Bills utilize their passing attack during the unpleasant conditions. He will be running routes against a Raven unit that surrendered eight touchdowns, and the eighth most fantasy points to opposing tight ends last season. While Clay is seldom a strong candidate for high-quality production, an expanded target total could help him eclipse his usual output during this matchup.
