Ryan Fitzpatrick Provides the Fitzmagic
6 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick went ballistic against the Saints on Sunday. Fitzpatrick threw for 417 yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions, and lead his double-digit underdog Buccaneers to an eight-point victory over the reigning NFC South champions. This was a literally magical performance from the 35-year old Harvard grad who is only starting because of Jameis Winston's suspension. In the preseason, Bucs' general manager Jason Licht stated that there was no guarantee that Winston would immediately jump back into the starting role when reinstated which leaves the door open for Fitzpatrick to showcase his savvy for maybe a little while longer. Given his track record, there should definitely be plenty of doubt going forward as to whether this success will continue. However, football is weird and sometimes weird stuff (like Peyton Hillis in 2010) happens. Fitzpatrick faces the Eagles next week. If he even sniffs a line like tonight, he might just find himself on fantasy teams in week 3.
