Eagles Wide Receivers Need To Be Better Going Forward
6 years agoThe Philadelphia Eagles may have some issues at wide receiver. With Alshon Jeffery (shoulder) and Mack Hollins (groin) unable to play in Week 1, six players caught a pass, including quarterback Nick Foles. However, Nelson Agholor and Deandre Carter were the only wideouts to haul in a pass. Agholor reeled in eight passes on 10 targets for 33 yards, while Carter caught his only target for 10 yards. Veteran Mike Wallace, who was brought in to be the team's No. 3 receiver, saw just three passes thrown his way despite being on the field on 66 offensive snaps. Fellow veteran Markus Wheaton and second-year pro Shelton Gibson were used sparingly on offense. "As an entire offense, we've all just got to get on the same page, get clicking, get rolling," Carter said. "And we will." Agholor is really the only receiver you can trust in Week 2 in a favorable matchup against the porous secondary of the Bucs.
