6 years agoAfter struggling through the month of August and into early September, Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Jake Bauers continued to show signs that he's slowly heating up as he recorded a pair of doubles in the Rays' 9-3 win over the Texas Rangers. The two doubles were Bauers' only hits of the night as he also recorded two RBI and a run scored. Wednesday's performance now has Bauers hitting .286 with three doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI over his last nine games, with his season average rising past the Mendoza line to now sit at .201. Bauers has shown some speed and power in the minors, and he has the potential to hit 15 home runs and steal 15 bases, but that is going to depend entirely on his ability to figure out major league pitching. For now, he shouldn't be owned this season, nor be considered anything other than a late, late round flyer in drafts next season.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
