6 years agoLos Angeles Angels starting pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (elbow) will have Tommy John surgery next week. The procedure that will keep him off the mound for all of the 2019 season will be performed by Dr. ElAttrache in Los Angeles. The good news is that the two-way star should be able to serve as a DH all of next year. The 24-year-old proved quite adequate with the bat as well in his rookie season, hitting .280/.361/.564 with 21 home runs, 56 RBI and nine steals heading into Tuesday's game. He'll certainly be owned in all league's next season as a hitter, even though he has a little more upside on the mound.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
