ANALYSIS: New England Patriots wide receiver Phillip Dorsett overcame a knee injury in Week 3 to catch four of his seven targets for 55 yards and a touchdown against the Dolphins. Dorsett was not targeted in the Patriots' loss in Detroit in Week 3, but has been targeted seven times in three of the last four games. He has also caught two touchdowns passes this season and has at least four receptions in three of the last four games.
Beyond Dorsett's stats, he also has an elite QB in Tom Brady and, quite frankly, it is always wise to bet on a QB of his caliber. It appears that Brady is looking for Dorsett moreso than Chris Hogan, who only has 15 targets in four games this season. Also, while Dorsett is only averaging 10.3 yards per catch this season, he averages 14.1 yards per catch in his career.
The addition of Julian Edelman to the Patriots wide receiver rotation (and with Josh Gordon likely to get more work) will likely see Dorsett remain on waivers. If that is the case, you may be able to steal a player that has already found a rhythm with Brady. Gordon and Edelman may be the better plays for the remainder of the season, but, Dorsett is the play in deeper leagues this week.
