6 years agoCarolina Hurricanes right wing Andrei Svechnikov faced an uphill battle to impress in his first NHL game against the Islanders, as the second overall pick of this year's draft was relegated to fourth-line duty and logged less than 12 minutes on the ice, but he almost made it a dream debut. The 18-year-old Russian saw two of his shots hit the post on a night that left the whole team feeling frustrated, as the Canes managed to score just once with 46 shots on goal. Svechnikov had three of them. It probably won't be long before the highly rated winger starts moving up in the lineup, so owners shouldn't be worried. He already logged some good power-play time (2:10).--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
