BALLER MOVE: Add in 14-Team PPR Leagues
OWNED IN: 9% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: New York Jets running back Trenton Cannon will likely get more playing time in New York with Bilal Powell out for the season. This is a very good thing for fantasy owners, as Cannon had four catches for 69 yards against the Vikings two weeks ago. Cannon did not follow that up with a good performance this weekend against the Bears (six carries for 10 yards and three catches for 12 yards), but he will still see an increase in volume without Powell.
The addition of Elijah McGuire to the Jets backfield is not great for Cannon, but fantasy owners do need to remember that McGuire only averaged 3.6 yards per carry in his rookie season and is coming off of a foot injury. It is likely that McGuire and Isaiah Crowell are the first two backs on the depth chart against Miami this weekend, but Cannon is still a viable option, especially in the passing game. Crowell is not known as a receiving back and Cannon will likely fight McGuire for snaps on passing downs.
The Dolphins are the 4th worst against fantasy RB, giving Cannon the opportunity to make an instant impact. While his playing time is questionable, the opportunity against a weak run defense could not be better. He is a good addition in deeper leagues, but keep an eye on if he is preferred to McGuire.
