BALLER MOVE: Add in 14-Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 18% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: San Francisco 49ers running back Alfred Morris is firmly entrenched as the backup in San Francisco after Raheem Mostert went down with a forearm injury, making him a good player to stash. He had nine carries for 19 yards against the Giants on Monday which, although it does not seem much, gave him a 33% share in the Niners backfield. This is the fourth consecutive game that he had at least six carries, reinforcing that San Francisco wants Morris to get touches.
While the volume is good, the production has lacked for the 29-year-old. Since carrying the ball 14 times for 67 yards and a touchdown in Week 3 against the Chiefs, Morris has fallen behind Mostert and Matt Brieda in the Niners backfield. He only has averaged 3.4 yards per carry this season and, while he has averaged 11 yards per catch, he only has six catches this season and none since October 7.
The 49ers are on bye this week, but play the Buccaneers in Week 12, a good matchup for Morris, Breida, and the Niners backfield. While Breida is coming off of a 100-yard performance against New York, he is also dealing with an ankle injury. If there are any issues with Breida playing, it would be good to have Morris stashed away, particularly in deeper leagues.
