BALLER MOVE: Add In 14-Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 13% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Because Wilson Chandler is currently on a minutes restriction that seems like it may never end, adding him in fantasy presents some risk in the short term, but owners who feel fairly secure about their team right now should be grabbing him, because a healthy Wilson Chandler is about to play a major role on this team.
After the Jimmy Butler trade, the Sixers have made some adjustments to their lineup, including inserting Chandler into the starting spot at the four (though the minutes restriction did lead to a Mike Muscala start on Saturday night). Chandler's outlook looks a lot like what people expected from Dario Saric this season -- threes, rebounds, and some scoring upside once we finally get his minutes stabilized.
It's early, and it's a small sample size, but looking at Chandler's per 36 numbers right now can give us an idea of how he's played in comparison to previous years. So far, Chandler is averaging more rebounds per 36 than he ever has and has seen his non-scoring numbers stay fairly steady from last season, and while his scoring is down right now, the minutes restriction and the fluid situation in Philadelphia surrounding the trade makes it hard to know just how much to read into that.
In the long term, picking up Chandler could give you a starting NBA four with eligibility at guard who can rebound and hit from deep. Chandler has been extremely efficient so far this season -- 56.5 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from three -- and while those numbers will come down, he's found himself a cushy role on this team and is likely to be the fifth option most of the time he's on the floor, which should put him against softer defensive looks. Adding Chandler still feels like a speculative add at this point, but if you have room you should go out and grab him.
