Quinn Cook (PG, GSW): Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add In 14-Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 40% of leagues

ANALYSIS: Quinn Cook has proven that he can score in the NBA whether he gets a lot of minutes or a few minutes on the court or whether he starts or comes off the bench. One thing is for sure: if the 6-foot-2 point guard gets just a little opening, either off the bounce or catch, the ball is gone. 54.1 percent of his shots this year have been pull-up jumpers, where he is making 50.0 percent of those shots. The third-year pro is also proficient on catch-and-shoot situations as he is making 66.7 percent of those shots, including 63.0 percent from beyond the arc. The only place Cook has trouble making shots is at the rim, which he doesn't get to often.

Cook has stepped up his game since Stephen Curry (groin) has been out of action. In the six games since Curry's injury, the 25-year-old has scored in double-figures five times, which includes a career-high 27 points against Brooklyn in his first start of the campaign on November 10. He has shot over 50% from the field as well as made multiple three-pointers in four of the six games. Overall, the former Duke star has produced 15.6 points along with 3.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 54.9 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from beyond the arc.

Curry is expected to miss at least Wednesday's game against the Thunder. However, the Warriors have said that they won't rush him back. So, Cook could get an extended run. Cook has possibly shown the Warriors enough to earn more playing time even when Curry does return.

Fantasy owners should not wait any longer to pick up Cook as he will pay immediate dividends. Cook is a good enough shooter and scorer to still provide fantasy owners points in those areas even if he does lose playing time.
