Mikko Koivu Will Miss The Rest Of The Season
6 years agoMinnesota Wild center Mikko Koivu (knee) suffered a a torn anterior cruciate and meniscus in his right knee during Tuesday's shootout loss against the Buffalo Sabres. He was injured in the first period after a collision with Buffalo center Tage Thompson in the first period. The team's captain needs corrective surgery on Friday and will miss the remainder of the season. With Koivu missed for a chunk of Tuesday's game, head coach Bruce Boudreau shifted Charlie Coyle to center from wing, pairing with Zach Parise and Luke Kunin. The team also recalled Joel Eriksson Ek from Iowa of the AHL.
