6 years agoSan Jose Sharks center Joe Thornton picked up a pair of assists with a plus-1 rating in Saturday's 5-2 road victory against the Edmonton Oilers. Thornton was playing in his 1,540th career game in the National Hockey League, tying him with Shane Doan and Johnny Bucyk for 15th-place on the all-time list. He'll break a tie with those two when he plays in Monday's contest in Vancouver. He had two assists in the first meeting with the Canucks back on Nov. 23 in San Jose, with both helpers coming on the power play.--Daniel Dobish
