6 years agoOakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman (shoulder, thumb) was able to take 20 swings during batting practice on Friday and he said after that the session went great. He remains slightly behind schedule in his recovery from offseason surgeries, but he is making progress. On a normal day the swing total in spring training varies, but beat writer Susan Slusser suggested a typical say consists of 60 or more swings. It's likely prospect third baseman Sheldon Neuse gets all the at-bats he can handle early in spring training, as the team is likely to take it slow with Chapman. After a solid season in 2018, Chapman is worth grabbing once the bigger names have been plucked on Draft Day. Just make sure to have a fallback option just in case he gets off to a slow start.--Daniel Dobish
