Ketel Marte Confident In Transition To Center Field
6 years agoArizona Diamondbacks infielder/outfielder Ketel Marte is confident he'll be able to switch from middle infielder to center field, where he is expected to see a lot of time this season. He has primarily played shortstop during his career, but he shifted to second base last year due to the emergence of SS Nick Ahmed. With OF A.J. Pollock moving to the divisional rival Los Angeles Dodgers, the organization decided to fill the void from within using Marte. The team still plans to move him around, playing second and shortstop at times, with veteran speedster Jarrod Dyson and perhaps Socrates Brito also getting looks in center. Dyson and Brito are both left-handed hitters, so the switch-hitting Marte is likely to get the starts in center against left-handed pitching. His potential at multiple positional eligibility makes him an intriguing fantasy pick in most formats.
