6 years agoCarolina Hurricanes goaltender Curtis McElhinney turned aside all 24 shots he faced in Saturday's 3-0 road victory against the Dallas Stars. It was his 10th career shutout. "(McElhinney's) just settling back there," head coach Rod Brind'Amour said. "You just don't think it's going to end up in your net. That's what we need." McElhinney has stepped up big time in his opportunity to serve as a mostly full-time starter. The outstanding play of McElhinney and Petr Mrazek in the Carolina crease have the Hurricanes positioned well in their pursuit to snap their playoff drought.--Daniel Dobish
