John Tavares Not Caught Looking Ahead
6 years agoToronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares focused on the task at hand on Wednesday night, scoring a goal with an assist and seven shots on net in 17:40 of ice time in a 6-2 victory against the Edmonton Oilers. The multi-point performance came on the eve of his first trip back to Long Island to face the New York Islanders, and a raucous, angry crowd is expected to greet him. Tavares has scored in back-to-back games, and three of the past four, and he has six goals and 14 points across the past 12 contests. He was blanked in the first meeting with the Isles in Toronto back on Dec. 29.
