Daniel Norris Improves Following Mechanical Adjustment
6 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Daniel Norris hasn't been terribly effective this spring and was roughed up badly on March 3 against the Yankees, allowing three home runs while recording just five outs. But after a sit-down with veteran Jordan Zimmermann, Norris was able to make a mechanical adjustment that he says has him feeling much better, as evidenced by a 2-3 MPH increase in velocity in his last start against Boston. Norris blames his faulty mechanics on developing bad habits while recovering from last year's groin surgery, and the 25 year old is looking to bounce back from a 2018 campaign that saw him go 0-5 with a 5.68 ERA in just 44 and 1/3 innings of work.
