Dereck Rodriguez Sharp In Spring Outing
6 years agoSan Francisco Giants starting pitcher Dereck Rodriguez allowed just one earned run and two hits with two walks and two strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings in a Cactus League spring outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday. Pudge's kid took the loss to slip to 0-3 on the spring, but he has a respectable 4.15 ERA and 10 strikeouts across 13 innings with a 1.23 WHIP in four Cactus League starts. He managed a 6-4 record, 2.81 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 118 1/3 innings across 21 starts last season. Across a full season he could see a bump in victories with a decent strikeouts-to-walks ratio, but now that hitters know him a little better it's unlikely he duplicates his ERA and WHIP marks with less than dominant stuff. Still, he is a decent option in NL-only fantasy play and deeper mixed formats.
