Justin Upton Plays In Minor-League Game Thursday
6 years agoLos Angeles Angels outfielder Justin Upton (knee) was scheduled to play in a minor-league game Thursday, his first game action since being diagnosed with tendinitis in his knee. It's a small step, as he was serving as the designated hitter while going 0-for-6 with a pair of strikeouts. There is still no definitive timetable on when he'll be able to return to the field or play in a Cactus League spring game. In addition, it's unclear if he'll be ready for Opening Day. Still, he has two full weeks to whip himself into shape. When healthy you know you're going to get 30 bombs with 100 steaks and an average in the neighborhood of .260-.270. Hopefully he is able to put this knee issue in the rear-view mirror and fire out of the chute when the games start counting for real.
