6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates third baseman Jung Ho Kang will man the hot corner for the club on Opening Day, beating out Colin Moran, the club announced on Monday. Kang's big league career has been a roller coaster due to injuries and legal issues in Korea but he seems poised to make good on his past. This spring, the 31-year-old has been the definition of boom-or-bust. He is 5-for-28 in 11 games; however, all five hits have been the long ball fashion. It should be noted he's also struck out 13 times. It appears to be enough for the Pirates to declare Kang ready to play every day. A career slash line of .274/.355/.482 with 36 home runs and 120 RBI is promising, so his draft value gets a slight bump now that his 2019 role is defined. Although, for the time being, he is nothing more than an option in NL-only formats.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
