Michael Fulmer Will Undergo Tommy John Surgery
6 years agoIt was reported Tuesday that Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Michael Fulmer (elbow) would likely need Tommy John surgery, but Fulmer had intended to seek a third opinion prior to making a decision. Now, the team has confirmed that Fulmer will indeed undergo the procedure, ending any hope of the former Rookie of the Year pitching in the 2019 season. Fulmer was 3-12 in 2018 with a 4.69 ERA. His injury could potentially open a door for Daniel Norris or Spencer Turnbull, who will both be vying for the fifth spot in the rotation.
