Mookie Betts Primed To Defend MVP Award
6 years agoBoston Red Sox right fielder Mookie Betts cleaned up at the end of last season, winning a World Series, American League MVP, Silver Slugger, the AL batting title, and a Gold Glove. At age 26, Betts is in the heart of his prime and is one of the premier players MLB has to offer. In 2018, Betts set career highs with 129 runs, 47 doubles, 32 home runs, 30 stolen bases, a .346 average, a .438 on-base percentage and a .640 slugging percentage, all while only playing in 136 games. For a player of his caliber, spring training was used to just get back into the everyday grind. Despite batting only .238 this spring and his only RBI coming on a solo home run, Betts will be back in the top third of the batting order for one of the most potent lineups in baseball. The reigning MVP will help lead teams to fantasy championships in 2019 as well as a possible World Series repeat in Beantown.
