Mallex Smith Will Start Home Opener
6 years agoSeattle Mariners manager Scott Servais announced that Mallex Smith (elbow) will start in center field for the team’s home opener. His status was in limbo after a limited spring with an elbow injury, but that’s a long ways from his legs where the majority of his fantasy appeal resonates. It’s unclear where Smith will bat in the lineup on Thursday, but he figures to see the majority of at-bats at the top of the Mariners order this season. Smith remains one of the top stolen base threats in the league and can be started in confidence despite the limited spring at-bats. Facing Red Sox ace left-hander Chris Sale on Thursday, Smith is a poor DFS choice.
