6 years agoToronto Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman went seven scoreless innings, striking out six batters and walking four, during a 2-0 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. It was a fantastic first outing for the 27-year-old, aside from some control issues, as his off-speed stuff was dancing all afternoon long. The Tigers possess one of the least intimidating offenses in the big leagues, so that could attribute to some of Stroman's success, but the results are encouraging nonetheless. With a clean bill of health, Stroman may be able to return to his 2017 form that saw him tally a 13-9 record to go along with a 3.09 ERA and 1.31 WHIP. He will never be an elite strikeout machine, but Stroman is worthy of a pickup as a back-end fantasy starter heading into his next projected start against the Baltimore Orioles.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBaller
