Blake Snell Roughed Up In Opening Day Loss
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Blake Snell was tagged for five earned runs on six hits over six innings Thursday in the home opener against the Houston Astros. He only managed three strikeouts and walked two on the day. There's no need to panic at this point, as the Astros have one of the best offenses in baseball. However, Snell was not happy with his pitch mix, as he mentioned post-game that he felt he used his fastball and curveball too much. He only pitched three innings in spring training and this could have been a result of his limited work so far. His next start will be against the Colorado Rockies at home. That won't be easier, but expect a much better performance out of Snell going forward.
