6 years agoBoston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts is close to signing a long-term extension, reports Evan Drellich of WEEI. Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports the deal is likely a seven-year extension worth $132 million, but terms have yet to be finalized. The 26-year-old has been the everyday shortstop in Beantown since 2014 and has a career WAR of 17.8 and is a career .283 hitter with 75 home runs and 387 RBI. The Sox have done their best to lock up some of their stars in the past year, including Chris Sale and Nathan Eovaldi this past offseason, plus J.D. Martinez in February of 2018.
