Mookie Betts Back In Leadoff Spot For Second Consecutive Night
6 years agoBoston Red Sox right fielder Mookie Betts will bat leadoff for a second straight game on Monday against the Athletics. The reigning American League MVP hit second for the team's first three games but hit leadoff on Sunday night because original leadoff hitter Andrew Benintendi got the night off after fouling a ball off of his knee on Saturday. This time around, Benintendi is back but he and Betts will swap places, similar to what the Sox did last year. It will be interesting to see if manager Alex Cora will stick with this strategy or if he is just testing options against an inexperienced pitcher in Aaron Brooks, who owns a 3-5 record with an 8.01 ERA over 18 appearances.
