Drew Steckenrider Gives Up Four Runs In Inning To Forget
6 years agoMiami Marlins relief pitcher Drew Steckenrider pitched one inning, giving up three hits, four earned runs and no walks while striking out two in the 7-3 loss to the New York Mets on Monday. Steckenrider was called upon in a 3-3 tie to hopefully give the Marlins a chance to walk it off in the ninth, but he gave Peter Alonso his first career home run that plated three runs and sealed the deal for Miami. The Miami bullpen is by committee, but outings like these definitely don't help his chances at getting save opportunities. Sergio Romo is currently the front-runner for saves in Miami. Steckenrider holds very little fantasy value unless he is enlisted as the Marlins closer, which certainly won't happen after that disaster of an inning.
