Ramon Laureano (OF, OAK) - Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues

OWNED IN: 36% of leagues

ANALYSIS: With 14 strikeouts in his first 35 plate appearances of 2019, it's fair to say there is room for improvement in Ramon Laureano's first full MLB season. After leading off for the A's in the first game of the season, he's also been relegated to the eighth spot in the order. Those pieces of information have inspired many owners to cut bait quickly. That's a mistake.

Laureano possesses a blend of power and speed that makes him quite an intriguing fantasy asset. The latter attribute has never been in question, as he stole bases at a 36 SB/600 PA pace in the minor leagues (with an 80 percent success rate) before adding seven in eight tries over 176 PA as a rookie last season. The pop is a more recent development, which is what makes the fact that he's gone deep in two of his last four games encouraging. The 24-year-old has legitimate 15 HR/30 SB potential over a full season, and his outstanding defense should keep him in the lineup every day even when he slumps at the plate.

You can add him freely in nearly two-third of Yahoo leagues right now.
